Martin Tod and Mark Oaten have changed all the lightbulbs in the Lib Dem office to low energy bulbs.
Winchester Liberal Democrats have replaced all the bulbs in their office with low energy lightbulbs as part of their plan to reduce their carbon footprint.
Martin Tod, Liberal Democrat Parliamentary Candidate for Winchester, commented:
"I changed all the lightbulbs at home some while ago to cut CO2 emissions. After Mark and I had a meeting with Greenpeace to discuss concrete steps to tackle climate change, we agreed to change all the light bulbs in the office too. It's going cut our electricity costs for lighting the office by around 85%."
Mark Oaten, MP for Winchester, added:
"Low energy lightbulbs are much cheaper than they used to be - and they save a lot of electricity. It's quite easy to get low energy lightbulbs locally for under one pound and they last longer than traditional lightbulbs too, so they cost less in the long-term."
According to the Department of the Environment, if each British household replaced three traditional bulbs with energy-efficient ones, it would stop as much CO2 emission as produced by all of the country's street-lighting.
