Local Lib Dem MEP Sharon Bowles is standing up for local football teams in the South East - championing the collective selling of TV rights that allows small clubs to compete with the famous teams.
Sharon told the EU Parliament, "Collective selling is the financial lifeline for many clubs that would otherwise be squeezed by the rich and famous."
Sharon says, "I'm glad the EU has rejected the situation in Spain where clubs like Real Madrid squeeze out the small teams by selling their TV rights individually.
"We have to make sure that our local teams can compete on a fair playing field - so the success of the Premier league isn't just enjoyed by rich clubs like Man Utd and Chelsea."
