We are delighted to announce that Martin Tod, current Lib Dem leader of Winchester City Council and Hampshire County Councillor, has been selected by the members across Hampshire and the Solent, as our candidate in the May 2026 election for the new and highly influential position of Mayor, Hampshire and the Solent (think: Andy Burnham for our region).
As he celebrated the news, Martin commented:
“The best bit of this campaign for me has been the opportunity to speak to so many Lib Dem members from right across the region. I want to say a big thank you to everyone who made calls, delivered letters and leaflets on my behalf and came out to support me at the hustings. I’d like too to pay tribute to Ben Dowling and Jack Davies also ran strong campaigns. Now we can all work together to see off the real opposition: Donna Jones of the Tories and the nasty and divisive politics of Reform”.
