Commenting on news that Theresa May is to trigger Article 50 on the 29th March, Liberal Democrat leader Tim Farron said:

"Theresa May is embarking on an extreme and divisive Brexit. She has rushed this through without a plan, and without a clue.

"On the day Theresa May is travelling the country claiming she wants to bring the United Kingdom together, she lets it be known she is about to unleash division and bitterness.

Residents on the 'Deadman's Lane Estate' near Tesco on Pinchington Lane have good reason to be pleased with their new parish councillor Dr Meg Thomas. They have been concerned for several years over potentially dangerous parking on Deadman's Lane by the Honda garage.

A row of up to twelve parked cars was normal every working day from well before the school run time. This restricted access to the whole estate to a single lane and obscured visibility. There were concerns about safety and access of emergency vehicles, not to mention long delays at peak times.

  • Cllr Lee Dillon: project will deliver for our young people
    Article: Mar 7, 2017

In 2017 we are once again in a desperate position of seeing a budget being proposed by West Berkshire Council that sees cuts to vital public services because of a Conservative Government which does not recognise the important functions that a Council provides in delivering services to its residents.

    Article: Mar 1, 2017

On Tuesday, we learned that former Thatcham Liberal Democrat Mayor, Gary Johnson, has joined UKIP.

Asked for his reaction as Chair of Newbury and West Berkshire Lib Dems, Tony Vickers told the Newbury Weekly News (NWN):

"The news was no surprise to me. Gary resigned from the Liberal Democrats after the 2015 election and cited our policy on the EU as the reason. This shows more integrity than our MP, who seems happy to help implement UKIP's manifesto while at the same time admitting it will be worse for his country and his constituents than remaining in the EU - which he still believes in!
