The aim of LGBT History month is to promote equality and diversity for the benefit of everyone, as well as celebrate the lives and achievements of individuals from the LGBT community.

Dr Jenny Woods, Liberal Democrat Parliamentary Candidate for Reading East, said "it is important to recognise and celebrate the incredible contributions made by members of the LGBT community both here in Reading and all across the country. Events taking place this month let us mark that."

In particular, I would encourage anyone who has the chance to visit the new exhibition in Reading Museum 'Hidden Voices - Reading's Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual and Transgender History', a project led by Support U, our local LGBT health and well-being centre."

Meri O'Connell, Parliamentary Candidate for Reading west, added "I am immensely proud of the fact that the Liberal Democrats have been at the forefront of lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender equality for decades. We have the best record in Parliament of any political party on LGBT equality issues.

"Our proudest achievement in this Parliament is that Liberal Democrats have delivered equal marriage allowing all couples the same rights regardless of sexuality. We will continue to build on our record and fight for equality for all."
